of Spencer, Iowa, Planning Director
The City of
Spencer, Iowa is now accepting applications for the position of Planning
Director. This is the perfect opportunity for a driven and creative individual

The City of
Spencer is located in Northwest Iowa at the confluence of the Little Sioux and
Ocheyedan Rivers, and has a population of approximately 11,000 in its 11.09
square miles. Previously ranked the 10th best place to live in the
U.S., Spencer boasts beautiful natural scenery, a historic downtown business
district, and is a great place to work, play, and raise a family.
The ideal
candidate will have:
= Considerable knowledge of modern principles and practices
of city planning
= Thorough knowledge of municipal zoning, building,
construction methods, plumbing and electrical work, and the ability to
interpret plans, specifications and blueprints
= Strong interpersonal communication skills
Required
Education and Experience:
= Associate’s Degree in Community / Regional / Urban
Planning, or related field, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
= Two years of progressively-responsible relevant experience
= Residential Electrical Inspection License within 18
months and Commercial Electrical Inspection License within 24 months
Salary range is $70,075
to $90,085, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The City of
Spencer also offers a competitive benefits package.
