Hours/Week: 30 Hrs / week
Reports To: School Lunch Manager Date: April 2024
Primary Purpose: Prepare and cook large quantities of food in a school setting.
Essential Functions:
1. Clean, cut, and cook meat, fish, or poultry
2. Cook foodstuffs according to menus, special dietary or nutritional
restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served.
3. Clean and inspect equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to
ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
4. Assist with transporting food to partnering school.
5. Serve food and beverages to students and faculty at partnering school.
6. Monitor food service operations to ensure procedures are followed.
7. Direct activities off workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.
8. Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment.
9. Compile and maintain records of food use and expenditures.
10. Maintain food, beverage, or equipment inventories.
11. Monitor menus and spending to ensure meals are prepared economically.
12. Plan menus that are varied, nutritionally balanced, and appetizing.
13. Assist with other responsibilities as assigned – special projects, balancing
of workload, or assisting in the absence of other employees.
14. ServSafe certified; will pay for class if needed.

Supervisory Relationships: None
Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required or Preferred:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Knowledge of USD
guidelines and County Health Departments Safe Food Handling Guidelines.
Previous work experience in food service in a facility of comparable size is
preferred. Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with coworkers, students, staff,
parents, and members of the public required.
