General Job Summary: This position is responsible for developing, coordinating and teaching courses in the wind energy and turbine technology program as defined by the College. Must evaluate and report student performance and progress in assigned courses in accordance with the College and division policies and procedures. Must have the required credentials for teaching in this field. May be required to travel between sites utilizing personal vehicle. Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.

 Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications:  Successful candidate will have:

      Required:

=         6,000 hours of recent, relevant experience in the field or area to be taught or completion of a state or nationally recognized examination or A.A.S., A.S., or B.S. Degree or higher

=         Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance

=         Well-versed in DC & AC electrical theory including electric motors and generators

=         Knowledge of rigging, signaling and basic rope access techniques

=         Strong knowledge of climb, safety, rigging and rescue procedures related to working at height

in the wind industry

      Preferred: 

=         Prior teaching experience at the postsecondary level or equivalent training experience in the wind energy industry or related field

=         Comprehensive understanding of industrial electrical and mechanical systems including: 

o   DC & AC electrical theory, including electrical motors and generators

o   Industrial motor control systems, programmable logic controllers

o   Understanding of power generation and distribution theory

o   Understanding of gearboxes, generators and other drive line components pertaining to wind turbines

o   Field experience with wind turbine maintenance, climbing, safety and balance of plant operations

o   Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, and other relevant industrial safety, and materiel handling standards
